Vintage Apothecary Card

Hi Girls,

I am actually excited to share this card with you today! I am sooo happy with how it turned out!

This card is for a dear friend Val’s birthday today and I’ve made it to match this tin that I made some time ago which was actually designed by Michelle Martin

But back to the card for a moment:

On a base of Chocolate Chip Cardstock, I’ve used vanilla textured cardstock and my Soft Suede ink to create this vintage ”tea-stained” look.  The textured cardstock is key here! I’ve stamped the background using a large stamp from the Bliss SAB set (retired) and the round medallion stamp from Artistic Etchings in Soft Suede.  Then I’ve inked using my stampin’ sponge and soft suede ink in a circular motion from the edges inwards.

After stamping the same pattern on a separate piece of vanilla textured CS, but BEFORE inking, I’ve embossed over the top in white using my Apothecary Art stampset and THEN inked in the same way as before creating an emboss-resist effect – and cut it out using the matching framelit.

My ribbon is Night of Navy, as is the Happiest Birthday sentiment. My button is vintage from my stash and I’ve threaded it with Early Espresso Baker’s Twine.

My ever-present Newsprint DSP is in there too!

Here is a close up of the texture:

Ooh I could look at this all day! LOL Don’t you just love emboss resist?

Ok so this is the birthday card, and I had to create a set of other cards to fill the tin as the actual gift:

Val loves Paris, so I just had to use the Eiffel Tower image from Artistic Etchings.  Ive used all the same techniques to make this card, but used a base of Night of Navy cardstock.  My sentiment is from Perfect Punches – I love how that stamp set matches the scallop oval punch perfectly!

And another second design:

And the insides of all the cards:

Here is a close up again of the tin:

And the inside with the cards and envelopes – and a space for a pen too:

So if you don’t like vintage, you probably didn’t enjoy this post much! But if, like me you just adore this worn vintage look – I hope you liked!

Saying Thank You with a Sailing Tin

Today was a little sad for me as I bid farewell to my bosses who are going overseas on Wednesday, and as I am leaving my position at intangible on Thursday, today was the last day we would work together – and yes it was a wee bit teary :(

I will be moving on to a very exciting position at Westbury Textiles next week, but for now I want to share the special gift I made Peter, who is, needless to say very passionate about his sailing and as it turns out, his liquorice!

Here is the tin decorated in sailing blues:

I’ve used Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla and Newsprint DSP along with Well Worn DSP – And liberal amounts of shimmer mist!!! My Sailing image is stamped with versamark, a quick tap on the NQN stamp pad and then embossed with clear powder.  It’s subtle but has a nice feel to it.

My So Grateful is from the Apothecary Art stamp set.  And don’t you just love the mini brads in the corners of the framelit?

And a close up of the detail:

And inside? Darrell Lee of course!

Here is the accompanying card:

Oh Framelits how did I ever do without you? LOL

I’ll be back later this week to show you the tin I made for Joan my other boss – a little more girly and not filled with sugar they way this one was!!!

13th Birthday Shaker Card

Happy Mother’s Day to all those Mum’s out there – phew life is a juggle isn’t it? I am happy you’ve taken a  breather to check out my blog today :) I am sharing a card I made for a young friend’s 13′th Birthday – Chelsea is a delightful young lady and very deserving of the fabulous party her Mum threw for her!!!!

I’ve made a shaker card:

A little hard to see from the photo but behind the 13 is a 3 dimensional window where the glass glitter can shake around freely – it makes a great sound when it shakes too!

My colours are Melon Mambo, Black, Silver, and a little antique gold too, and my DSP is Newsprint – it’s just soooo versatile!

And yes I’ve used my framelits (again) and the sentiment is from the Apothecary Art stamp set.

And the details:

And the inside:

This flourish is my go-to-gal for the inside of a card – it’s just perfect and it is from the Creative Elements Stamp Set.

Hope you liked my project!

See you again soon,

Special Occasion Framelits

Hi again, I sat down last night to create two really special occasion cards, one a sympathy card which I’ve never made before, and another a wedding card, both to go in my stash. I am loving using Apothecary Art and in particular the largest stamp, but it does take a seriously loooooonnnggggg time to colour – so I wanted to emboss it and highlight the flowers and leaves with my versamarker for a little depth. I think I got a good result in quite a short time.

Here is the sympathy card I created:

Image

My card base is chocolate chip, the DSP is Newsprint which I find really useable, and my highlight colour is Sahara Sand. I embossed with versamark and white embossing powder which I love, but swiping the card with your embossing buddy is a must! Then just pick out the flowers and leaves with your versamarker – it just deepens the colour and adds accent.   See what I mean? I’ve further highlighted with a little glitz at the centre of each flower.  My little diamanté ribbon slider is from intangible and the ribbon is retired stampin up.  My with sympathy sentiment is from the Loving Thoughts stamp set that goes so well with these images…

Look at this neutral gorgeousness:

This brings me to my next card…

Using another sentiment from Loving Thoughts, I’ve created a Wedding Card to have in my collection.  I love mixing all of these subtle colours and think the Newsprint DSP just finishes it off beautifully.  I’m so happy with this card :)

I went to town with my shimmer paint in Champagne Mist -sponging it liberally all over the edges of everything!!!

Well I hope you enjoyed looking over these projects – if you have any questions, please just let me know:)

A Card For My Stash

I recently purchased the Loving Thoughts stampset as it has some really great sentiments in there that I really thought I was missing from my cache of stampsets, for instance a sympathy and really nice wedding sentiment.  So I’ve set about creating cards using these for my stash – you know – just in case cards…

You just can’t get much more useful than a Thoughts of You card – it could be for anything really! I cased this design (kind of) from the New Mini catalogue in terms of the topnote at the bottom,  and I like it!

To create the banner for my sentiment, I ran my cardstock through my bigshot and the Petal Cone Die – placing the cardstock across the banner section only, and then scored the banner at 1.5cm and again at 2cm from each end.  This allows me to fold it along the score lines and attach to the card, and have the card still go into a standard envelope.

Another tip for this card is that I have coloured the flowers with my blender pens and Stampin’ Pastels, but the leaves with my Pear Pizazz Stampin Write Marker.  It just makes it easier to stay in the lines with the marker!

I found myself wondering today “Framelits will you ever leave my craft desk?” and the answer is probably NO until Stampin’ Up! bring out another design for me to play with LOL.

Hope you enjoyed stopping by today,

Masculine Card with Well Worn

Hey there,

I’m back this morning with a card that I have created for team of people I will be joining for an exciting new project next month…The leader of the team is Male but the other people are female so I was trying to strike a balance between both genders! Also, they are a creative team so I think they will appreciate the thoughts on the front rather than a sentiment…

The DSP I’ve used is from Well Worn and the colour scheme is River Rock, Early Espresso, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla – scrumptous!  I’ve used the framelits dies and the Apothecary Art Stamp set for the front, and the words (placed with my stampa-ma-jig) are from the Loving Thoughts stamp set (the last three products are from the new Autumn Winter Mini). My little flourish on the bottom right are from the Scribbles die.  I always mount my cardstock to a little piece of multi adhesive sheet and then run it through the Bigshot so that my flourish is self adhesive, neat and tidy.

The corners are rounded, and I have recently re-discovered shimmer mist, so I have misted generously over the entire card once finished :) I’ve used the Square Lattice Embossing Folder on the larger framelit after stamping it.  My stamp on the envelope is from the retired SAB set Bliss from last year.

The edges are all sponged with soft suede ink, and the buttons are threaded with Linen Thread.

I stayed up way too late making this card last night (after watching American Idol of course!!) but it was really enjoyable :)

Lovely Day for Bicycle Ride

Hi Girls,

I love the Hostess set in the new Autumn Winter Mini from Stampin’ Up! It’s called “Pedal Presents” and features a gorgeous image of a bicycle, and then a few little elements to pop into the adorable basket.  I decided to use this set to create a Mother’s Day Card for my wonderful Mum, and teamed it with another new stamp set called “Loving Thoughts” for the sentiment:

I based my layout on a card I admired over at Delys Cram’s blog here using the banner from the Petal Cone Die for my sentiment and of course the new Framelits dies for the focul point of the bicycle and it’s pirouhette pink mat.

My card base is Island Indigo, my DSP is Twitterpated and the Boho Blossoms punch gave me my flower on the ribbon.  Look at all of these lovely layers:

If there is anything else you need to know about my card or the supplies I have used, don’t hesitate to let me know!

Thanks for stopping by today,

Product Spotlight – Our New Framelits!

Good Morning and Happy Easter Monday! If you haven’t visited in a while  you will see a new link to your right taking you straight to the New Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue from Stampin’ Up! And the consensus is that it just might be the best mini ever!

Today I want to spotlight my favourite product from the mini which is the new Framelit dies which includes multiple sizes of the same shape for absolutely delicious layering…  It also has a matching stampset called Apothecary Art which perfectly fits inside the dies – love this!

On Saturday arvo I sat down for a play and came up with this card for Laurenz’s little friend Grace who is turning 7 this week :

I really went to town with the crystal effects on the roses, number 7 and a few little flowers in the DSP too:

And the inside features a little fancy treatment too with a little ribbon border lace and some stamping and sponging in Wisteria Wonder:

The DSP is the hostess pack of Cheerful treat and my colour combo started from my colour coach – Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant and Lucky Limeade… From there I chose my DSP and the Melon Mambo just kind of happened from there!

My sentiment is stamped onto a flag from the Petal Cone Die – that sure comes in handy!!!

Hope you enjoyed your visit today – here is a direct link to the catalogue – if click on the image below it will take you to the PDF and you can save it to your computer for future browsing!

Loving Monochrome Cards

Hi Girls!

I’ve been browsing blogs of late and noticing all the beautiful monochrome cards out there – so I have had a wee go myself this week and this is what I came up with:

I limited myself to Island Indigo and Sahara Sand Card Stock (along with a non SU textured Vanilla CS) and only Island Indigo Ink.  All of the images I have used are from the SAB set Fresh Vintage (Free until end of month with $100 order) except the sentiment which is from the hostess set Perfect Words which is one of my faves at moment…

I don’t have the postage stamp punch yet so I’ve used a scallop square and cut off the majority of the scallops leaving a kind of postage look :)

My Ribbon Border Punch detail under the sentiment is free floating except for a dollop of tombow glue underneath the sentiment punch (modern label).

My butterfly is embossed with iridescent ice and the same flower stamp used in t he background, and then mounted to chipboard with a multipurpose adhesive sheet and run through the Bigshot with my Beautiful Butterflies die.

Closeup time:

And here is a Calypso Coral Version:

Hope you enjoyed my projects for today – if you are interested in any more details, leave me a comment and I will do my best to explain any of the elements of my card to you :)

SAB Enchanting Butterflies Series Card 3

Hi Girls,

Welcome back for the 3rd and final card from my series.  If you’ve missed the background to this series check it out here

So my 3rd card created from a small stash of products at my January Stamp Club is this one:

This one didn’t come together quite as quickly as the previous two – probably because it was later at night and my energy was starting to flag a little! But I loved the idea of stacking the butterflies for extra dimension (or Super-Dimension as my 5 year old would call it!).  I also really liked the effect of corner chomping only two opposite corners and leaving the other two square.

And the three little ribbon bows in a row are rather cute I must say:

The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Perfect Punches – I love the way these stamps match the punches.  I’ve matted it on one of the Labels in the Lots of Tags Sizzlit Set.

The generous colour spritzing with my Wild Wasabi Marker and Colour Spritzer tool really added the finishing touch to this card.  Here is the inside:

This stamp from the Creative Elements Stamp Set is just one of my all time favourites – it seems to suit everything!

Well I hope you enjoyed this series of cards, and if you are interested in acquiring some of this delicious DSP, Ribbon or Brads, all you need to do is spend $100 and you can choose a Sale-a-bration item of your choice! Check out my previous SAB post for details here, and until next time, have fun crafting!
