All Butterflied Out Yet?

I was supposed to be back to show you our Goodie Trays from Laurenz’s sleepover, but alas they were demolished before I had a chance to photograph them!

I hope you don’t mind instead I will share with you yet another Butterfly creation!  I am just loving  this Autumn Spice Textured Coverweight DSP from the Autumn Winter Mini – particularly this Old Olive Design – I would buy an entire pack of it if I could!

I’v teamed it with a Black Fabric Sparkly Butterfly using my Beautiful Butterfly Die and Bigshot and of course Multi Purpose Adhesive Sheets to attach the fabric to my card.

If you are wondering about the embossed section in the middle and how I managed to two tone colour it – I took my vintage wallpaper embossing folder and rubbed my old olive stampin pad over the FLAT inside of the folder, then placed my Whisper White Cardstock over the top being careful not to move it before running it through my bigshot – I AM LOVING THIS EFFECT!

I think the black inking on the edges of my scallop squeare (another die), larger square and sentiment finish the detail off nicely :)

And inside:

More inking, some tearing and DSP, and one of my favourite sentiments EVER from the Wordplay stampset.

I am truly enjoying decorating the inside of my square card creations of late!

Thanks for stopping by and as always, just yell out if you’d like further details on my project!

Friday Frenzy Workshop

Hi Girls,

Today I’d like to share the demonstration project and make and take from my workshop on Friday.  My hostess was the delightful Kylie (Waving Kylie) and I always enjoy catching up with this particular group – many of whom have truly become friends whom I wouldn’t have met if it wasn’t for Stampin’ Up!

So the demonstration project was this card, which features emboss resist technique (I showed the girls how to colour emboss using versamark, classic ink and clear embossing powder):

I sort of wanted to demonstrate how if you simply stamp underneath the embossing like I have with the Cajun Craze at the top, you get a distorted kind of colour on the Old Olive section, but if you stamp after embossing allowing it to “resist” the ink you are using like I have with the More mustard and crumb cake images, there is no colour distortion to the Old Olive… Now this workshop was a little frenzied with all the kiddies running around so I don’t think I actually got that point across very well LOL – so if any of the attendees are reading this – this was actually where I was going with this demonstration!

Here is a close up:

The make and take was this little beauty: (Am I allowed to compliment my own designs? LOL)

Again demosntrating how adhesive sheets can be used with fabric and the Big Shot Dies – in this case Beautiful Butterflies.  This Black sparkly fabric is called Smoulder and is one of intangible’s exclusive fabrics – this piece was rescued from the scrap bin last week after a production run! Our Cutter Linh was kind enough to let me scrounge in the bin for a large enough piece!!!

I love this colour combo of Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla and Black…

Well until next time :)

Owlin’ Good Birthday

It’s my Dad’s Birthday today!Happy Birthday DAD! I KNOW you check my blog out from time to time :)

I had fun making him this suitably masculine card featuring the Autumn Spice Coverweight DSP in the current mini (luvin’ it!), and of course the ever versatile owl punch:

I got my idea of adding wings to the owl from Kerry Bunting who truly is the queen of owls (check her myriad of ideas with the owl punch!)  How simple is it to use the scallop circle for cute little wings? I like folding one wing down for a bit of attitude or a wave hello – cute!

My sentiment is from a favourite stamp set “on your birthday” which just has the perfect birthday sentiment for every age group.

How cute is the Decorative Label Punch I’ve used to “house” my sentiment? Check it out here in the Current Mini Catalogue – See how I’ve punched again in Cajun Craze and snipped each edge off, placing around the label as a shadow? Effective isn’t it?

Now I know it’s a male card – but didn’t you know I shimmer EVERYTHING these days? Check this out!

Have you tried Stampin’ Up!’s square envelopes? They accomodate a 13.5 x 13.5 card – I am lovin’ square cards at the mo!

Hope you enjoyed this project and maybe I have even inspired you to have  a play with craft this week!

Thanks for stopping by!

A Special Gift for My Mum

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I Love My Mum :) I worked long and hard on a special gift for her on Mother’s Day.  I adapted my Mini Card Folder to hold a standard 15 x 10.5 card and envelope – 10 0f them in fact.  The strength of this project is definitely the Autumn Spice Card Stock Weight DSP featured in the new Autumn Winter Mini Catty from Stampinup… the colours are SO my Mum!
