Clearly For You Birdhouse 3D

A great group of stamping friends gathered at my place on Saturday for an afternoon of craft and chatting – in honour of the new SU Autumn Winter Mini.  This is the project (or very similar to) that we created first:

The birdhouse template came from a cute little website for kids called craftideas4kids – so easy when you can print something straight onto your cardstock!

Colour Combo – Sahara Sand, Pacific Point, Very Vanilla

I designed this project to highlight the great new stamp set Clearly For You – which I chose because I fell in love with the little birdies!  It coordinates with the New Bevelled Window Panes that are acrylic and Oh So Cute! Aren’t they stylish?

I love the way my Spiral Border Punch finishes off the roof on my little birdhouse :)

I’d like to show you another of my projects that I displayed for the launch – this cute as gift box featuring the Sew Suite colours, stamps, DSP and Pom Pom Ribbon:

I am going to add a selection of birthday cards and gift cards and give this to a work friend (who happens to be a fabulous seamstress) as a gift – here are a couple of examples:

I just love the pure girliness of these papers and sewing images :)

Pop back again soon for some more projects using my favourite products in the new Mini – check the catalogue out for yourself by clicking on the catty in the sidebar.

Thanks for stopping by!

Glitter Stencilling with Lace and a New Mini Catalogue!

CLICK ON THE IMAGE BELOW TO VIEW THE NEW AUTUMN WINTER MINI CATALOGUE FROM STAMPIN UP!

It may be April Fool’s Day but the new Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue from Stampin’ Up! is no joke! (corny eh?).  Seriously though this Mini is a little ripper, jam packed with new exciting products like the Eat Chocolate Stampset and the Big Shot Adhesive Sheets – both featured here today:

and a very cute stamp set:

Oh and did I mention the co-ordinating punch?

The project I have to show you today certainly has WOW factor:

My background pattern has been created using the Bigshot adhesive sheets and a Glitter Stencilling technique that my stamping friend Vanessa demonstrated at stamp club last month! Glitter stencilling you might ask – How does that work? Here’s how:

Step 1

Cut your adhesive sheet to size and carefully peel off the printed side.  It’s important not to handle the adhesive as it may lead to missing spots on your stencilled background. Apply to a base card – in this case I’ve chosen Baja Breeze:

Step 2

remove the other coversheet, exposing the adhesive:

Step 3

Place an open design piece of lace fabric over your adhesive and press firmly down:

Step 4

Choose your first glitter colour (in this case chocolate) and pour liberally over the cardstock, making sure you cover all the adhesive – TIP this is when your powder pal trays will come in very handy! Make sure once you have covered your cardstock, you shake and tap off all excess glitter, undo the stopper on the end of your tray and tip the unused glitter back into the container – brilliant!

Step 5

Remove the lace “stencil” from your cardstock – you will see the adhesive exposed from underneath the stencil (don’t throw the lace away – you can use it over and over again!):

Step 6

Now the fun part – add you second glitter colour (here I’ve used light blue to match my Baja Breeze Cardstock) this layer of glitter will only stick to the adhesive still exposed – and I’ve done this on my larger powder pals tray:

Finished Product:

And a closer look at the effect:

And aren’t the Eat Chocolate stamped images so much fun? Here is a similar card I created using a different style of lace:

I just love this colour combo of Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight and Very Vanilla! I kept with this same combo to create another card featuring the Eat Chocolate Set and the matching decorative punch – so simple but so effective!

If you’d like your own copy of the Mini delivered to you, be sure to drop me an email at stampingelegance@live.com or call me on 0400 220 177.

I’ll be back next week with some projects that feature the Sew Suite which is just gorgeous! Until then…

A Sketch Challenge, a Mini preview and a New Technique

Hi Girls,

I played along with the first challenge for a while over at inkspirations this week – here is my take on their sketch:

Now I have a few things to tell you about this card…

1. I turned to my colour coach for inspiration on colour and chose Regal Rose, Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso – you just can’t go wrong when you use the colour coach to guide you on colour!!!

2. Oh My God how sweet is that satin bow?

3. Can you pick up the subtle Gold smooch spritzing on the Early Espresso base card?

4. You are getting a not so subtle preview of something coming up in the Autumn Winter Mini on April 1st 2011…

and

5. How gorgeous is my glittery stencilled rose as the central image? What you are looking at is Chocolate Supernova fine glitter and dazzling diamonds in a rose pattern – intrigued? You will have to stay tuned for my tutorial coming up on April 1 with the release of the mini catalogue – this technique uses a very exciting product also in the catty so I can’t give too much more away than that – but I hope I see you back here then for more details :)

Or go one step further and book into my launch class and have a go yourself! All I know is that you will see alot more of this on my blog in the coming weeks – I haven’t been this excited about learning a new technique (thanks for teaching me Ness) in a very long time!

Thanks for stopping by and why not join in with the challenge here

Baby Candle Wrap for Cara-Leigh

Hi there,

One of my workshop friends (hi Cara-Leigh!) asked for a few pics of my Baby Candle Wrap I’ve been displaying, and I thought rather than email I would post here for you all to share:

This candle features the Fox and Friends Stampset from the AWM – and the colours I have chosen are Kraft and Baja Breeze and Soft Suede Cardstock with ink highlights of Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery and Baja Breeze.

Here it is from a few angles:

I was inspired by the idea of a Children’s  Carousel when I spaced the tags around in little card “strings”, suspended from my Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon. My tips to pass on for Candle Wraps are:

1. Dont create the wrap first and then attach to the candle – instead start from the bottom layer, adhere that with a strip of tape at the back and then wrap the next layer adhering that and then the next and so on.  You can then embellish your candle as the last step.

2. Also to allow the candle wrap to slip off if you want to burn the candle, dont adhere the base layer to the candle – on adhere to itself, stretching tightly around the candle to hold it on well.  then each layer you add, make sure you place some adhesive strip onto the previous layer to keep all layers from slipping and sliding - does that make sense?

And of course my scallop flower is created with the SU scallop circle punch - 5 punchies layered and scrunched, secured with a Brad in the centre.

My letters are cut using teh Timeless Junior Alphabet Dies and my Bigshot.

The tags are punched with the large tag punch.

Here are the  matching cards I created:

I had so much fun making these, but alas no-one I know is pregnant at the moment (can you believe it?)

Hope you enjoyed these projects – be back soon!

Raising Kindness to an Art!

Hi girlies!

Last night my lovely Upline and Stamping Friend Michelle Scott came over for a wee few hours of stamping and chatting and we had a great time!  We basically swapped and played with products that each of us didnt actually have ourselves.. Mich went home with a bunch of top notes and I was left with pages of Vintage Vogue flowers! haha

I couldn’t resist creating straight away with Vintage Vogue as I have the Very vintage Wheel but hadn’t stretched my investment to the actual stamp set! Oh Joy this is what I whipped up during our stamping session last night…

I love this colour combo of Close to Cocoa, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip and Soft Suede.  The DSP is from the delightful Cottage Wall papers  – do you like? A closer look at the flowers might reveal that I actually used the rock and roll technique first stamping in soft suede and rolling the edges in Chocolate Chip:

My stampajig helped me place the border stamp at the bottom and the sentiment stamp perfectly (love that tool!!!)…

Then I moved on to my favourite card shape of the moment – The Gate Card.  I scalloped the inside edge and turned back the “collar” of this one.  Inserted a DSP sheet inside, stamped another lovely flower vine from Vintage Vogue on the front, and then moved to my BigShot table.

With my Bigshot, I cut out a set of the Buttons and used three of them to stack together and create the button embellishment on the bottom… Then I grabbed my Thanks embosslit and created my sentiment feature at the top with the reverse side of the same sheet of DSP.  Here is a closer look at the sentiment:

Its really subtle in this pic but so sweet in real life! Dont you love the polkadot Grosgrain in Soft Suede?

As you can see I had a great time swapping stories, tips and products with Michelle last night (thanks Mich!!!) and I am sure she liked the stamped card that my eldest Laurenz made for her at his stamping table too!

Thanks for stopping by guys, and if you would like to join our team of stampers, don’t forget that the starter kit is a wopping 20% 0ff at the moment (just $259) - give me a call if you’d like to know more about becoming a demonstrator, or just fancy making a little extra money to feed your craft addiction (er hobby)

So Many New Things!

Hi Girls!

I have so many new things to show you that I am resulting to bullet point to organise this blog!!!! I haven’t blogged for a while so I’ve built up quite a little backlog of projects I’d like to share with you!

  • More Autumn Harvest Cards, Candle Wraps and Scrapbooking
  • Dazzle You with Razzleberry
  • Lots of Bots Party Cards, Gift Box or Birthday Favour Box

So to get started… Here is my favourite of the Autumn Harvest Candle Wraps I have created…

and I am hoping My Mum doesn’t check out this post – here is the Mother’s Day card I have made for her…

 And another Autumn Harvest Card:

And a Scrapbook Page:

I love the layering effect of all of these fabulous coordinating papers… Am I ever going to tire of this colour palette? I just love it so much!

General Project Recipe

Autumn Harvest DSP, Soft Suede and Eggplant Card with other Earth Elements Colours, Ink – Chocolate Chip, Soft Suede, Elegant Eggplant, Ruby Red, Old Olive, Kiwi Kiss, Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie (Watercoloured Images), Stampsets- Embrace Life, Autumn Flair Hostess Sets, Wonderful Favourites, Big Shot – Polkadot Embossing Folder, Buttons Sizzlit, Timeless Junior Alphabet, Ribbon and Embellishments – Soft Suede Polkadot Grosgrain, Linen Thread

And Now for those of you who haven’t been introduced to the dazzling properties of our Rich Razzleberry Colour…

This basket is so easy to make and is adapted from a basic one square favour box I have used for the Lots of Bots Party Favour coming up so keep scrolling if you are interested to find out the details…

Isn’t this THANKS Embosslit just gorgeous? Again using my baby Big Shot…

This card features the beautiful new Very Vintage Stampin Around Wheel from the AWM - I’ve rolled onto Opulent Orchid in Razzleberry Ink.  For the flower I have rolled onto Kraft and one layer of Opulent Orchid to create the coordinated feel.  Then I have stamped the large bloom from the Embrace Life stamp set to make the Kraft “DSP”.  Don’t these colours look great together?

And using my Embrace Life Stamp set (I find this goes really well with the vintage feel):

For this one, my friend sentiment is from the Simply Said stampset and I find it SOOOOOO true… I also really lovel the whimsical font of this sentiment…

And now for our beautiful new MELON MAMBO:

Combined here with the Pony Party  stampset – HOW CUTE IS THIS??? Oh to have given birth to some pink ones…(sigh)

This stamp set gives you the ability to build your own scene – a party pony, unicorn etc and it has lovely little accent stamps like the grass, flowers, butterflies, clouds, stars etc – it really is great fun and a must for birthday cards for little girls!!!  Ive created a really simple favour box here for a birthday party – a basic grid with each corner square cut out – if you are interested, just let me know and I can post the template for you.

The button you can see and the base card colour is our beautiful new Melon Mambo – it woul dlook even cuter with the matching melon polkadot but i had to settle with the Rich Razzleberry – still looks great though!

And more Melon Mambo for a cut Baby Card using my Two Step Bird Punch:

I’ve used the sentiment from the Best Yet Hostess Stampset – I rarely stamp without it these days!

OK – next my favourite Boys stamp of the moment – Lots of Bots:

I have created a Birthday card and Gift Box, as well as a smaller Party favour Box – I plan on using this for Laurenz’s 6th birthdya coming up and my invitation will feature the Robot stamp too – just need to order the Please come  invite stamp set so keep your eyes out for that post!

Entire Set

My colour scheme is Yoyo Yellow, Tangerine tango and Taken with Teal.  I have used Stampin Pastels and Blender Pens to colour my images.

Gift Box – this uses an entire piece of 12×12 card

Smaller Party Favour Box – this is created from a 21cm x 21cm square (cut from A4)

 -

Birthday Card 1

Square Gift Card

Now did I mention that these are my first foray into Clear Mount Stamps? I only needed 4 small acrylic block sizes for this stampset and beauty is that every stamp set I purchase from now on will cost less as I have already invested in these acrylic blocks!

The little nuts and bolts are a small stamp which I have repeat stamped turning slightly each time and it looks like a wheel doesnt it? I love it!

Now are you ready to see how easy it is to make these boxes?

This is not a printable template – just an indication for measurements and cut lines.  One you have scored your grid and cut along the 4 cutlines, you can fold it all the way up for a square box, or fold it to your desired angle and secure with a staple for an angled favour box like I have made.  A great tip for quick results with the least “fuss” is to angle the sides and place your handle on the inside – securing all with one staple per side – yes just one staple holds each side and the handle together!!!!

I am going to be conducting a workshop for birthday favours in May at my lovely friend Trishy’s house.  If you and your friends would like to learn how to make these favour boxes, why not book your own workshop? Just email stampingelegance@live.com.

Gosh that was quite a parade of projects wasn’t it? I will be back next week with a feature on the Fox and Friends Clear Mount stampset – so be sure to pop back then!

Happy Anzac Day Long Weekend!

SU Autumn Winter Mini is Here!

Hey there!

You might notice a few subtle changes to my Blog – yes the new mini catalogue for Autumn-Winter is finally here, and I couldn’t help but warm up my blog a little with some Autumn Colour!

Boy do I have some exciting products to show you all!  There is so much packed into this Mini (that actually isn’t so Mini – it is quite thick!), that you NEED to browse through yourself (see my link to the right – just click on the pic of the AWM catalogue and you can browse on line…)

I am going to share a few of the projects I have been making with my AWM products, and then list the project recipe for each to help you locate the products you fancy in the catalogue…

Project One – Two-Step Bird – Just Because I Care

Base Card – AWM In Colour Soft Suede (gorgeous isn’t it?)

DSP – AWM Autumn Traditions $16.95

Other Card – Creamy Caramel, Elegant Eggplant

Punches – AWM Two Step Bird Punch $30.95

Isn’t this bird punch adorable? The three elements of the Bird, Feather and Branch are on one punch – so all you need to do is get punch happy on a few different card stock colours and DSP sheets, and mix and match for a really lovely effect.

Ink – Elegant Eggplant

Ribbon – AWM Polka-Dot Grosgrain 1.3cm Soft Suede (this is plain on the reverse side – so versatile!)

Big Shot Dies – Polka-Dot embossing Folder, Lots of Tags (both exclusive to SU)

Now is a great time to introduce my new baby – it’s called the Bigshot Die Cut machine from Sizzix and SU and is featured in the AWM catalogue:

I have used the polka-dot embossing folder to create the polkadot impressions on my cared above, first on the Soft Suede, and then again on my Creamy Caramel Strip of Card. For my sentiment I have used the SU Lots of Tags (Set of 4) Dies to make the shaped tag, and then stamped my choice of phrase from the hostess set Best Yet

Project Two – Coffee Cup Hello

Base Card – AWM In Colour Soft Suede

DSP – AWM Autumn Traditions $16.95

Other Card – Whisper White, Garden Green

Punches – Word Window

Ink – Soft Suede, Kiwi Kiss, Garden Green

Ribbon – AWM Polka-Dot Grosgrain 1.3cm Soft Suede (this is plain on the reverse side – so versatile!) and Hemp Twine

Stamp Sets – AWM Share a Cup $11.95 and Hostess Set Autumn Flair

Isn’t this polka-dot coffee cup stamped in Soft Suede cute as? Share a cup is one of the a la carte single stamps available in the AWM and the “hello” sentiment on my card above is featured underneath the coffee cup image – I have just chosen to punch it with a word window and cut out the coffee cup for a little hanging feature on my ribbon…

Big Shot Dies – Top Note (SU Exclusive), Lots of Tags

The top note is the shape I have cut out in the gorgeous Autumn Traditions DSP for this card. You will see it again in the next project…

Project Three – Top Note Halved

Base Card – AWM In Colour Soft Suede

DSP – AWM Autumn Traditions $16.95

Other Card – Whisper White, Garden Green, More Mustard, Printed Font (from my scrap paper pile!!!!)

Stamp Sets – AWM Share a Cup $11.95 and Hostess Set Autumn Flair

Big Shot Dies – Top Note (SU Exclusive), Lots of Tags

I am so excited everytime I even catch a glance of the Autumn Harvest DSP – and add it to my 12×12 assorted pack of Earth Elements and I am in Autumn Heaven!!!

Now if this has given you a taste to see or hear more about these great new products, I am holding an open house Product Launch on Tuesday the 13th of April between 9am and 11am in Charlottes Vineyard Ellenbrook – if you would like to drop by and have a browse through the products and projects I have created so far, give me a call on 0400220177 and I will give you my address – it should be great fun!
